PENGETAHUAN DAN PERAN IBU DALAM PENANGANAN DEMAM PADA BALITA DI DESA DUKUHBADAG

Abstract

Handling fever in toddlers depends on the role of parents, especially mothers, so knowledge is needed. However, the mothers’s level of kwonledge varies greatly which results in differences in the management of fever in toddlers. Lack of knowledge results in inappropriate handling, so that healing becomes less than optimal. This study aims to identify knowledge of mothers about fever in toddlers and their handling. This type of research is a type of qualitative research conducted by filling out questionnaires. Determination of infomants using the snowball method. The data were processed by analytical descriptive. Most respondents measure fever by palpating body parts and do not use a thermometer. Almost most of the respondents immediately gave non-pharmacological assistance without giving antipyretic drugs. The most commonly used antipyretic is paracetamol. Some respondents do not know how to recognize fever and treat fever pharmacologically and non-pharmacologically. The results show that the knowledge and role of mothers regarding fever in toddlers.
